RIP Mr. Jobs...

2 min read
I know this is a few days late...I was devastated when I heard of Steve Jobs' death. I'm a huge Apple Fangirl and I've been using Macs since I was in grade school. His death was also a little personal for me as my dad is also fighting cancer for his second time, and my dad also may not have much time left. I got into design because of Apple advertisements. They were always so clean and simplistic. I loved that they could convey the entirety of what a product could do with the product alone on a solid white backdrop and simple black text.

Every time I read an article about Steve, there's always one word that stays constant: "Visionary". He was visionary in every facet of his company and I'm sure in his home and family life as well. He saw electronics as something that could be molded and shaped into anything he wanted. The communicator in Star Trek wasn't just something for the movies, it was something that he could have made if he'd wanted.

I don't have much else to say, but I will leave it with this quote from Mr. Jobs at a 2005 Commencement Speech at Stanford as it really made me see another side of death....

"No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don't want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life's change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true.

Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."

I've been taking a closer look at the fractal community lately and really falling love with the designs. They are so intricate. You can get anything from sharp and sparkling to smooth and pearl like. It's given me a new view on the style.

Previously I'd only seen really bad work by people who would rather just type in a few numbers and have a program generate something random and boring.

Someone here on DA let me know about some amazing fractal artists:

I think I'm going to see if I can try my hand at the fractal thing.
